Midtown Union picks hotel development team

Midtown Union, a new mixed-use project where Invesco will relocate its headquarters, has announced the developers behind its planned 12-story hotel. 

Stormont Hospitality Group and The Allen Morris Company, in partnership with MetLife Investment Management, will develop the 205-room lifestyle hotel. 

“We really want to create a unique experience that doesn’t exist in the Midtown market that will appeal to corporate and leisure travelers,” said Matt Robinson, asset manager of real estate for MetLife Investment Management. “We look forward to creating a vibrant scene here at Midtown Union and see the hotel being the anchor in creating that scene.”

Construction has begun on Midtown Union, a large mixed-use development in Midtown at Spring and 17th Streets. 

The official groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for December 9, at 1295 Spring Street, according to a press release Monday.

The project, designed by Cooper Carry, with Brasfield & Gorrie as the general contractor, is a partnership between MetLife Investment Management, and Granite Properties commercial real estate investment, development and management company.

Construction begins on massive Midtown Union development

Construction is officially underway on Midtown Union, a huge mixed-use development on 8.5 acres at Spring and 17th streets and the future headquarters of Invesco. An official groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 9.

Developed by Granite Properties with the financial backing of MetLife Investment Management, the project will encompass nearly a full city block in the heart of Midtown. The development will feature a 26-story, 606,000 square foot Class A office building; an 18-story, 355-unit residential tower atop eight levels of parking; a 12-story, 205 room boutique hotel; 30,000 square feet of retail; and, a 635,000 square foot parking deck providing 1,909 parking spaces.
