DALLAS — July 22, 2021— Granite Properties, a commercial real estate investment, development and management company, announced today that Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine honored the firm as one of the 2021 Best Workplaces for Millennials™. This is Granite’s first time being named to this prestigious list, coming in at #22 on the Small & Medium Workplaces list. Earning a spot means that Granite is one of the best companies to work for in the country.
The Best Workplaces for Millennials award is based on analysis of survey responses from more than 5.3 million current employees. In that survey, 99% of Granite’s employees said Granite is a great place to work. This number is 40% higher than the average U.S. company.
“Granite’s purpose is to inspire people to flourish through the places we create, and I’m thrilled our younger team members connect so well to our purpose. We’re focused on providing our future leaders with an inclusive work environment and the resources to help them grow and succeed. We so value that our younger teammates believe in, and want to contribute to, building a culture where all of our employees feel valued and appreciated,” said Michael Dardick, Founding Partner & CEO, Granite Properties.
Following are statements from some of Granite’s younger team members on their experience working at Granite:
“Working at Granite has changed my entire perspective on what I thought working in the business world was like and what it takes to be successful. I have a true sense of purpose here and though tasks are important, the emphasis is more on the development and genuine care of us as individuals. The people-focused culture I experience every day, motivates me to perform at a high level, and have fun while I do it,” said Natali Juarbe, Property Manager and Houston Business Journal 2020 Women to Watch honoree.
Working at Granite is more than just a job to me – it is the place where I really began what I hope to be a life-long career. Granite offers a purpose-driven work environment. There is a commitment from everyone at Granite, from the CEO down, to see our people and partners flourish, and they are willing to commit the resources to nurture an environment to do so – whether that is piloting new ideas, facilitating committees and workshops for collaboration, or investing in our well-being,” said Fenway Merlino, Leasing & Asset Management Associate, Atlanta.
“When I started at Granite right out of college, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have landed this job – I still feel the same seven years later. One of my favorite things about working here is the genuine care shown to everyone and dedication to training and growing employees’ skills. Because I have been able to grow my leadership and communication skills, I have been able to grow in the company as well,” said Laurel Materka Patel, Senior Manager, Community Experience & Customer Insights, Dallas.
“Granite has a growth mindset where leadership trusts and encourages us to try new things, knowing some ideas may not work out. This fail forward approach fosters innovation and learning, makes work more fun and has allowed me to grow professionally and personally,” said Sara Tabita, Community Experience Manager, Southern California.
Great Place to Work is the only company culture award in America that selects winners based on how fairly employees are treated. Companies are assessed on how well they are creating a great employee experience that cuts across race, gender, age, disability status, or any aspect of who employees are or what their role is.
“The Best Workplaces for Millennials™ treat their employees like people, not just employees” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. “These companies foster caring and respect for one another, at every level of the organization. The result is millennial employees who say they look forward to coming to work and – as our research says – are 50 times more likely to stay a long time.”
Granite has been recognized by Great Place To Work as one of the Best Workplaces in the country for the past nine years, Best Workplaces in Texas for the past five years and Best Workplaces for Women four times. Granite has also been ranked as Best Workplaces for Giving Back and for Flexibility.
