DALLAS – October 19, 2020 – Granite Properties, a commercial real estate investment, development and management company, announced today that Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine recognized the firm as one of the Best Small & Medium Workplaces for the ninth time in a row. The ranking is based on confidential survey feedback representing more than 189,000 employees working at small- and medium-sized businesses in the United States. Granite took the No. 15 spot of the top-100 Medium Workplaces.

Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and company culture research firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in the country for the ninth time in a row. I’m very proud of our team for coming together to navigate the uncertainty and disruption we’ve all experienced this year. Granite has relied on our team’s talent, caring attitudes and innovative spirit to adapt and meet the changing needs of our customers and partners. It’s because of teamwork that Granite continues to be on the path towards long-term success, and I want to thank every team member for making Granite a great place to work,” said Michael Dardick, Founding Partner & CEO, Granite Properties.

This year, Granite team members worked closely together to live out Granite’s four main values to benefit teammates, customers and communities, which are Lead, Serve, Create and Improve. Throughout the pandemic, Granite offered enhanced flexibility to remove pressure from team members requesting modified work schedules or needing to work from home due to lack of childcare. Through organizing regular virtual events, like “FaceTime Friday” and “Granite Game Days,” team members were able to stay connected, maintain a sense of culture and strengthen relationships with team members across all markets. Supporting the Granite communities, the firm contributed to a wide variety of charitable organizations to reach those impacted by the pandemic, including immediately funding all of its cities’ local food banks and Boys & Girls Clubs. Granite leadership has continued to communicate with team members in a clear and transparent way about systemic racism.  To that end, Granite has begun the journey to become a better firm to become more diverse and ensure all are treated equally.

The wellness of customers and employees is Granite’s top priority and the firm created a cross team taskforce to research ways to enhance the safety of Granite’s office building communities. In August, Granite launched a portfolio-wide $10 million Inspire Wellness initiative to maximize safety and wellness for all. The initiative is focused on enhancing air quality, a touchless experience, and outdoor workspaces. Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization is being added to HVAC systems and bipolar ionization is being added to elevators across the portfolio.

“Over the past almost 30 years, Granite has built an inclusive culture based on collaboration and trust. We support one another, enjoy celebrating our colleagues’ successes, encourage everyone to be innovative, and work to ensure that all team members connect to our culture. Our commitment to having a great culture has helped us navigate through this challenging time. Being recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in the country is a great honor,” said Greg Fuller, President & COO, Granite Properties.

“Best Workplaces like Granite Properties have built dynamic, flexible, and transparent workplaces founded on trust,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “This gives companies on this list a powerful opportunity not just to do well for their people, but also to do well for their businesses.”

Granite has been recognized by Great Place To Work as one of the Best Workplaces in Texas for the past four years and Best Workplaces for Women four times, including this year. Granite has also been ranked as Best Workplaces for Giving Back and for Flexibility.

About the Best Small & Medium Workplaces
To determine the 2020 Best Small Workplaces list and the 2020 Best Medium Workplaces list, Great Place to Work® gathered and analyzed confidential survey feedback representing more than 189,000 employees working in small- and medium-sized businesses in the United States.  Employees responded to over 60 survey questions describing the extent to which their organization creates a great place to work For All™.

Eighty-five percent of the evaluation is based on what employees say about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organization, no matter who they are or what they do. Great Place to Work analyzes these experiences relative to each organization’s size, workforce make up, and what’s typical relative to their peers in the industry.

The remaining 15 percent of the rank is based on assessing how consistent employees’ daily experiences of innovation, the company’s values, and their leaders’ effectiveness are.
