HOUSTON – June 22, 2020 – Granite Properties, a commercial real estate investment, development and management company, announced today that Weycer, Kaplan, Pulaski & Zuber, P.C. (WKPZ), a premier full service law firm, has leased 16,768 square feet on the top floor of Weslayan Tower. The iconic 20-story, 509,977 square foot Class-A office building is located just inside Houston’s 610 Loop at 24 E. Greenway Plaza on the northeast corner of Weslayan and Highway 59.

WKPZ was represented by Kevin Kushner, Executive Vice President for CBRE and Granite was represented by Jon Dutton, Leasing Manager and Steve West, Senior Director of Leasing, Houston of Granite Properties.

“We’re excited to welcome WKPZ to Weslayan Tower. Granite is updating the building to deliver a more human-centered workplace inclusive of hospitality-driven lobbies and outdoor workspace. We’re thrilled that WKPZ recognizes the benefits of our customer-centric offerings,” said Scott Martin, Executive Managing Director of Granite Properties.

The LEED Certified Gold and Energy Star-rated office building features recently updated lobby areas and MEET, an extra large conference center. The building offers a MOVE fitness center and an outdoor workspace called THE YARD.  Both MOVE and THE YARD will be updated later this year along with the multi-occupied corridors and elevator cabs. As part of the renovation program, WKPZ will have a new entry with an upgraded elevator lobby when they move from 11 Greenway in Q4 2020.

WKPZ is a full service business law firm based in Houston, and with offices in Dallas and Arlington. After over forty successful years in the same Houston office suite, WKPZ sought out opportunities for more space to accommodate the firm’s growth and which would allow the firm the ability to build out a modern office that could satisfy all of the distinctive needs of its various practice areas.

“Granite’s focus on the customer experience will provide our attorneys and clients with an inviting work environment, positioning our firm for growth, both in terms of attorney count and practice areas. After much consideration, we chose Weslayan Tower for its modern amenities, it’s accessibility and convenience for our employees and clients, and the opportunity to partner with an office building owner valuing us and our clients,” said Jonathan Saikin, a WKPZ Shareholder.

Located in the Greenway Plaza submarket, Weslayan Tower has direct access to Interstate-69 and is in close proximity of Downtown and Uptown Houston.

“WKPZ was a highly sought-after tenant due to its long history in Houston and excellent reputation as a firm. We had a lot of great options to consider,” said Mr. Kushner, who frequently represents law firms and is a member of CBRE’s Law Firm Practice Group. “To execute a new long-term lease in these difficult times demonstrates WKPZ’s and Granite’s confidence in one another, the future of their respective businesses, and the city of Houston.”

The lease with WKPZ brings Weslayan Tower to 87% leased. Other customers include Weaver & Tidwell, LLP., Lewis, Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, Patterson+Sheridan LLP and Energy Ogre. Over the last 12 months, Granite has facilitated expansions at Weslayan Tower for four customers who had outgrown their space, including LiquidFrameworks and Energy Ogre and in May 2020, Granite helped customer Adapt 2 Solutions expand triple in size.
